2 Months

2 months is not long to us as adults. It is a little longer to my boys who are anxiously awaiting the start of summer vacation.  But to my Little Blue Dude, it's almost a third of his lifetime.  He's accomplished so much in such a short time.

As he was playing in his exersaucer this morning, I got to thinking. It was only 2 short months ago that I first plunked him into it, only to have him sit there much like a rag doll.  Today he's king of the thing.  He's mastered all the toys attached to it. I feel bad for the little chickens in the spinner, he spins them so fast I'm surprised they're not puking all over the place. If he could get paid by the bounce he'd have his college education paid for twice over.

Not only has he mastered that, but he's also learned how to sit up by himself; give the most fabulous, slobbery kisses a mom could ask for; learned how to roll over; has figured out how to get where he wants by rolling or pushing himself backwards.  He now knows his name, and that if he drops a toy, on of use will pick it up, again and again. These are all things we take for granted, but to him have been major acheivements.  I think we as adults would have to climb mountains to equal his feats.

I just snuck upstairs to peak on my little napper (this kid loves to sleep) and was shocked to find him sleeping on his tummy.  First time ever.  That makes me  happy and sad at the same time.  Happy because he's learned something new, another step to mastering his world.   But  I'm realizing that with each new step he takes he doesn't need mommy as much.

And something tells me that in 16 years when he's scarfing down cheeseburgers, and giving me that typical teenage attitude, I'll miss these baby days even more.

Yet I will celebrate all these milestones with him, or for him, in some cases.  I will do it with a (mostly) happy heart, because each of this triumphs bring him one step closer to being the wonderful person that I know he will be.
