It's Random Tuesday time

randomtuesday

My thanks for Kyooty, who walked me through how to head over to Keely's and get my own Random Tuesday button.  If you don't have one, head on over and grab one!

Okay, my first random Tuesday, here we go...

I've drawn a blank, how can random be this hard??? Maybe I need to walk away and come back to it...

Hey, here's something totally random.  My 3 year old has just gotten her first pair of size 3 pants.  That's a major event in our house.  She still has pants in the 18-24 month range that fit her, although they're short.  And her 8 year old brother has finally outgrown his size 3 underwear, he's into size 4!!  He's up to a whopping 42 pounds.  That means he can legally go into a booster seat now, but because he's 8 he doesn't legally need a booster seat.  What sense does that make??

Hubby's surgery is in 2 days, what fun that will be.  He's having a wrist he broke a year ago repaired, complete with a bone graft from the hip.  Yay for me, I'll have my 5th baby back for a while.  Hopefully not as long as the last time, my nerves can't take it.  Oh I know, the painkillers totally knock him out, so I'll have to keep slipping them to him, even after he doesn't need them, that will keep things quiet.  He's already complaining about 12 weeks in a cast, and it isn't even on yet!

It's supposed to rain today and it isn't.  But it looks like it's going to.  That totally annoys me.  I want to hang out part of that mountain of laundry that's overtaking my laundry room.  I know if I hang it out, it will get rained on, and if I don't, it won't rain at all.  Oh well, everyone has clean clothes for today, maybe I'll just forget about doing it today.

That's all the random I have in me today, perhaps this will get easier as time goes on.  If I can pry myself away from the computer screen I think I'll make some muffins.  Oh just remembered it's recycling day....must go put it out now.

2 Months

2 months is not long to us as adults. It is a little longer to my boys who are anxiously awaiting the start of summer vacation.  But to my Little Blue Dude, it's almost a third of his lifetime.  He's accomplished so much in such a short time.

As he was playing in his exersaucer this morning, I got to thinking. It was only 2 short months ago that I first plunked him into it, only to have him sit there much like a rag doll.  Today he's king of the thing.  He's mastered all the toys attached to it. I feel bad for the little chickens in the spinner, he spins them so fast I'm surprised they're not puking all over the place. If he could get paid by the bounce he'd have his college education paid for twice over.

Not only has he mastered that, but he's also learned how to sit up by himself; give the most fabulous, slobbery kisses a mom could ask for; learned how to roll over; has figured out how to get where he wants by rolling or pushing himself backwards.  He now knows his name, and that if he drops a toy, on of use will pick it up, again and again. These are all things we take for granted, but to him have been major acheivements.  I think we as adults would have to climb mountains to equal his feats.

I just snuck upstairs to peak on my little napper (this kid loves to sleep) and was shocked to find him sleeping on his tummy.  First time ever.  That makes me  happy and sad at the same time.  Happy because he's learned something new, another step to mastering his world.   But  I'm realizing that with each new step he takes he doesn't need mommy as much.

And something tells me that in 16 years when he's scarfing down cheeseburgers, and giving me that typical teenage attitude, I'll miss these baby days even more.

Yet I will celebrate all these milestones with him, or for him, in some cases.  I will do it with a (mostly) happy heart, because each of this triumphs bring him one step closer to being the wonderful person that I know he will be.

Tiny School

From the Brown-Eyed-Girl while listening to her brother talk (whine) about having to go to high school...

"Well I don't have to go to high school, I'm going to small school, actually it's tiny school"  (She starts junior kindergarten in the fall)

And that's how she's referred to school all day
